Extreme Heat Policy
Teams,
The weather this weekend is expected to be quite high. For player and member safety we ask everyone to be familiar with the FNSW Extreme Weather guidelines.
If conditions are as have been indicated in weather forecasts, it is expected that games may be postponed during the day on both Saturday and Sunday.
Extreme Heat Policy
There is no longer a specific temperature which marks the postponement of games. It is now a combination of temperature and humidity which defines risk. This could be a lot lower temperature than you might imagine. (If the humidity is high).
Heat stress affects different people in different ways. Risk factors are also diverse and can include factors other than environmental factors including general fitness, illness or a variety of health conditions.
Please look out for one another and act responsibly.
A 2 page summary of the heat rule is attached for your convenience. Examples to help you read the graph, and screenshots about how to access temp and humidity conditions are contained therein.
This summary is for convenience and does not replace the FNSW policy statement. It is up to teams to observe this policy even if your opposition disagrees or makes uninformed decisions. Monitor conditions throughout the game, as soon as the risk is extreme- CANCEL YOUR GAME. Modify your game accordingly if the risk is high. NO canteens are available during trials. Bring plenty of waterand ice.
Thank you and take care.
